Some times you meet someone for the first time and all you feel tempted to do is to judge him or her, without realising that you do not even have the complete information about the person. But how correct can your judgement be?
Just like you, the other person is not perfect. So what makes you think you are in a perfect place to judge the other person?
Here are 3 simple reasons you should resist the temptation to be judgemental:
1. You do not know where the person is coming from
A man is a product of many things in his life. One of it is his experiences…
How he behaves now is somewhat a reflection of what he has been through in the past. So if you judge him by only what you see now, you are most likely to misjudge him.
2. You do not understand what the person is going through right now
Apart from what a man might have been through in the past, what he is going through right now also affects his disposition to life.
Granted, you may see that he is going through stuff but you will never understand it in and out. So don’t judge him by what you see because there is so much more happening behind the scene that you do not see.
3. You do not know the person’s future.
What you see about any body is not all there is to him or her. So don’t judge him because he or she does not fit into your mould or expectations.
A man may be down today but do not judge him as out. Being a fellow human being, you are grossly limited by your senses. What the future holds for the person may be far beyond what your natural eyes can perceive.
“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged” Matthew 7:1-2, NLT.

ya i should not judge homosexuals…i should keep quiet when someone is raping an innocent woman…and yes i should not judge the ISIS for killing innocents…i just should keep quite..i should not tell what is evil is wrong..but i should try to turn evil by making it good and positive thoughts…and yes even false teachers should be allowed to teach doctrines and keep believers away from following Christ…sadly people don’t understand Matthew 7:1-2 in correct sense and yes people can be so negative in thinking that others are pointing their sins because they don’t even liked being judged by GOD…as you said who are we to judge the corrupt billionaires..who know what they are going through life in harems and casinos

Gadol, thank you for reading and commenting. I believe the post did not suggest that we turn blind eyes at the evil things perpetrated around us.
Any body that breaks the law should answer to the law. That’s given. The context of this post does not preclude that from happening.
As you know Gadol, being followers of Christ, we should do away with prejudices, acts that condemn other people, walk in love, correct people in humility, and so on and so forth.
As we noted in the post, do not treat others the way you will not like to be treated. And remember that “judge not, and you will not be judged” are not my words, but Jesus’.

people don’t have correct understanding to this verse..especially western school of thought who focus on positivism instead of TRUTH…though you point to what Jesus just said..i can tell quite surely there is shortage of understanding this verse….unless you roll your eyes through other verses in Bible where Jesus speaks on the same matter with details…go on details..don’t sound shallow like rest of the foolish world

I feel that you should have shared your own understanding of the issue rather than all these unwarranted accusations. Your approach has not helped anyone, especially knowing that your take on the issue is shrouded in unclear terms.
Anyhow you look at it, we should admit that we should show love and understanding in correcting people. Don’t kill people’s spirit; Even the adulterous woman got mercy instead of judgement when she encountered Jesus.
If we all spend time judging people, no one will be free. Anyone that judges other people cannot say he should not be judged.
Loving someone, not judging him, is what will make the difference in that person’s life.
My dear Gadol, again I don’t want you to misunderstand this issue. So I would say that echoing the words of Jesus that we should treat others the way we want to be treated is not sounding shallow as you think. It is deep thinking, because it is not even as simple as you are making it sound.
At this juncture, rather than casting aspersions, why don’t you share your own understanding of the Bible verse in question? My readers and I will be glad to read your unbiased thoughts.

why did then Jesus said “Don’t go and sin again” to the woman caught for adultery is what;s bugging the whole world…and o wow thanks for sharing just the fraction of what Christ is saying about judgement…i am asking you to look at with bigger picture getting out of this traditional “Don’t judge verses…” i don’t people really understand this verse well

Dear Gadol, from our discussions so far, I would like to think that fundamentally, our positions on this matter do not differ much, even though we are approaching the issue from different perspectives.
“Do not judge” does not mean we should accept sin and live with it. But it does mean we should not condemn the sinner. With the spirit of love in operation, we are better equipped to convert sinners than if we put on a judgemental attitude towards them.
The bigger picture (using your words, is to bring people to the knowledge of God, not to condemn them out-rightly, without showing mercy. Remember the scripture that says mercy supersedes judgement? (James 2:3). I think we can factor in that one here too.

every body knows what you are writing…get a bigger picture and come to reality instead of following the rebellious crowd that doesn’t like to be corrected…i would want to remind you a verse “But I tell you the truth, it is for your benefit that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. And when He comes, He will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because they do not believe in Me” John 16:17-19….As far as i know rebellious people are misusing Words of the Bible and trying to understand in the worldly terms and knowledge…but it’s not so…it simply means judge correctly with mercy, faithfulness and love..but not out of anger, corruption and hatred…also the person that is committing the same sins are not qualified for it…it simply means don’t pervert GOD’s justice and judgements..Jesus said first take the plank out of your eyes then you can judge the small speck of dust in brother’s eyes..however people are focused only the not judging part..that too with naivness and they forget to go through the whole verse about what Christ is actually saying…Jesus called some hypocrites…why were they hypocrites???they judged with wrong intentions by misusing the power of Law…Jesus is simply saying make good use of Law while judging..he also talks about if a brother commits sins then we must warn him…but if that warning is not enough for him..he must be judged in Matthew 18:15-19…by the way without maintaining good judgement how will you even brings GOD’s justice, peace and righteousness is another grave question…i believer this pervert and rebellious generation does not like being exposed…you are talking about what James is saying but i am reflecting on what Christ is saying..people have misunderstood James too…he is not exactly telling what you are understanding about Judgement…

All the same, I quite agree with explanation, that “it simply means judge correctly with mercy, faithfulness and love..but not out of anger, corruption and hatred…also the person that is committing the same sins are not qualified for it…” Now you are got my point too, which I believe was clear in the spirit of the post, ab ni tio.
As per what James said on the issue of judgement and mercy, which you seemed to underplay, I guess we can leave that for another day. Thank you for your time.

Thanks..i pray that LORD would open up your minds that when you say don’t judge actually you are already judging the person who might even have judged as per JESUS’s wish..and please don’t use fraction of GOD’s word to give the whole picture..it doesn’t produce good fruit…but it produces rebellious generation like that of western nations

Gadol, reading your various çomments, I can’t help wondering if you actually read the post, because the way you are taking it is not what the post is all about. It looks like your comment has to do with another issue you might not have had an avenue to express your dissatisfaction about.
For the records, I think you should read the post again and let me know which of the three points highlighted you do not exactly agree with. That way, I may be able to comprehend where you are coming from. Right now my feeling is that you have taken the post out of context, and that doesn’t help anyone. Once again, thanks for your time.
