Prince Harry and Meghan Markle: 4 Interesting Things About The Royal Wedding

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle - at the altar

In an epoch-making ceremony, Prince Harry took his beautiful bride, Meghan Markle, to the altar to be his lawfully wedded wife.

The whole world stood at attention as the graceful royal event took place at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle in London.

In many ways, the marriage between the two lovebirds has been described as a break from the norm; a royal wedding with a difference.

In this post I will talk about 4 interesting things about the couple.

4 Interesting Things About The Royal Wedding Between Prince Harry And Meghan Markle

1. The couple loves each other very much.

The union between Price Harry and Meghan Markle is not a loveless union in any way as some royal marriages in the past might have been.

This one is a special marriage between two special people that specially love each other against all odds.

The love of the couple shone through every inch of the wedding ceremony. Meghan was particularly full of smiles as she pledged her marriage love and commitment to Prince Harry.

The sparks of love in her eyes were indescribable. And Prince Harry was like, “You look amazing. And I am so lucky to have you.”

I am sure the elegant Megan felt the same way too; they were visibly happy throughout the ceremony.

This couple followed their hearts, without minding what the world around them would think. They fell in love and stayed in love, standing before the Lord to be joined man and wife in holy matrimony.

From the year of our Lord 2016 when they reportedly first met each other, to this year 2018 when they walked down the isle, their love for each other stood strong, overcame many negative criticisms that arose against the royal union along the line.

2. The couple met through a blind date.

It was reported in the media that Prince Harry met Megan Markle through a blind date orchestrated by a mutual friend of theirs.

Really?

Yes! Their first time meeting with each other was through a blind date.

Meghan confirmed it when she confessed in a BBC interview that the blind date… (Wait for it)… “was a set-up.”

Now we can all see the result; that “set-up’ was definitely a blind date with a difference; It worked out gradually but surely, leading to a grand royal union.

Before now, one would have thought that this kind of blind date only happens in movies. But here we are celebrating the strong love that developed from a blind date to friendship and then to marriage into royalty.

With this development, it looks like the next (even the present) generation of young people now have a veritable example of a blind date that worked for them to imitate.

But they should remember that they are not Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Interracial marriage

3. Welcome the Biracial royal bride

As far as I know, never in the history of the British monarchy has there been a biracial bride amongst the wives of the men of their royalties. But with Meghan Markle coming into the fold, as wife of Prince Harry, a great history has been made.

In the words of Katie O’Malley, “…a mixed race woman has married into one of the whitest institutions in the UK…”

This is reality my friend!

It means that Prince Harry and Meghan have chatted a new course for mankind in matters of race relations on earth – in an unprecedented way.

As one media analyst pointed out, “Ten years ago, this would have been impossible.”

Yes, a decade ago, a marriage between a British royalty and a biracial woman wouldn’t have been possible. But it is now… And that’s progress for us humans!

When the first man landed on the Moon, it was dubbed, “one small step for a man but one giant leap for mankind.”

In the same vein, Prince Harry’s marriage to a biracial Meghan could be seen as a giant leap forward for mankind in the history of interracial relationships, not only in Britain but in many places around the world.

Meghan has now moved from being an American actress to Britain to being a royal bride with a difference.

And the good part is that many people love and adore her, calling her and Harry, “a perfect couple.”

Everyone that matters, especially Harry’s dad, Prince Charles and his grand mum, her royal majesty, Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth II, understandably approved of the union.

This is not to say that the couple didn’t initially face some persecutions from some sections of the public because of Megan’s racial background.

They did, but they overcame. Thanks to Prince Harry who stood firmly behind his gorgeous lady.

4. The Divorcee Question

When in 2017 Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement, some questions arose about her previous relationships.

As it turned out, Meghan had been married before but the marriage did not work out between her and her then spouse. We now know the name of her ex husband as Trevor Engelson, a Hollywood television and film producer.

As at the time she met Prince Harry, Meghan was already officially divorced. But the ‘divorcee’ tag on Meghan did not dissuade Harry from marrying her.

In any case, Meghan’s failed marriage to Engelson is now in the past where it belongs. A new marriage chapter has now been opened between Prince Harry and her, not only as husband and wife but also as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Thank you Victor for sharing about this Royal Marriage, I read all the Comments and agree in part but what does God say about Marriage and Remarriage; Legal Divorce and intended life time Separation show a hard Heart because it shows lack of forgiveness and if we don’t forgive we won’t be forgiven and Satan will also get a foothold in our lives.

But what about Adultery, doesn’t that break the Marriage Bond ……. If there has been True Heart Repentance and it is no longer practiced than like with all Sin God forgives and restores just as He showed us with Hosea’s Wife and also with the Israelite’s, so we too forgive and seek restoration because that is what God’s Love is all about.

What about Violence which God hates, yes Hurt people Hurt people and the Victims are to protect themselves and their Children when needed but hate and bitterness only brings more hurt to those who walk in it, so forgiveness is still needed and to Pray for the abusive Spouse and restoration if possible.

What about those who walk away permanently with no desire for restoration of the Marriage or they continue to commit Adultery without repentance, than we are no longer bound by the Law of Marriage but we are still to forgive and Pray for them to come to their senses and to have Heart Repentance.

Thank you Victor, I also appreciate that you value our Comments regardless of the amount of their wordage, it confirms that you are also interested in us and our Comments and value us as people of Worth and that shows a True humble and Loving Spirit.

God Bless you greatly Victor and your Loved ones, Now and Always – Anne.

Thank you Anne as always for reading and commenting. Yes it is my pleasure to respond to all the comments on this blog. I’m glad you noticed.

Yes, I agree with you. We should show forgiveness irrespective of the hurt against us, because as you stated, if we don’t forgive we suffer more.

We forgive because God has forgiven us. So we prove ungrateful if we don’t forgive other people. Remain blessed Anne.

I loved hearing that they met on a blind date. My aunt and uncle met this way and got married shortly after. They’re still married decades later. Hoping this method was a silver bullet for Harry and Meghan!

I liked her dress (of course the important part right?). I thought it could have used a bit more shape as she’s a skinny woman, but the contemporary neck-line with the Tiara and magnificent veil suited Megan. She had to follow certain protocol with the main wedding I know too, Also, she did get to choose an evening wedding dress that was more her.

You called her elegant, and I’d agree she was and is an elegant person. I will miss her in the TV show ‘Suits.’ I did read Harry and her met by blind date and I liked that. As well, that Harry is 33 and she is 38, and Harry didn’t care. I loved that her mother was there & looked so proud, and that they incorporated her family’s religion into the Anglican Service.

The Baptist (?) choir was amazing and I liked that they incorporated her interracial heritage into the wedding, through the divine chelloist, the African-British minister, etc. It’s far past the time that race should cause discrimination in the English monarchy, and the same with divorce. I think they learned that with Charles and Diana, as he always loved Chamila it seemed.

Sometimes marriage doesn’t work out, as sad as this is, but it seems like God had more in mind for Megan. She has always been a huge supporter of charities, even before Harry, and I admire that about her. I think she is a fit princess through her experiences and b/c her and Harry are in love.

If you watch the old interviews with Diana and Charles, Diana appears so lost. It appears Charles just wanted her to have kids. She did, but I think being Royal was difficult for her, she was so young, but in her way, paved the way for both Duchess Kate (Middleton) and Megan Markle who are loved, respectively, by both William and Harry. This is very important.

Have you watched ‘The Throne’, based on Queen Elizabeth’s life? It seems from season 2, although Prince Phillip loved Elizabeth initially, he cheated. But he also came back, and I think that being older when these two princes married, they got their party-days out of the way, and now, they have settled down to women they truly love to have families etc. Its perhaps smarter than hurting each other when you are young, although, Prince Phillip did return to Elizabeth and has remained devoted to her since for many many years.

Those are my thoughts. Sorry they are long. I like your concise facts 🙂

Your thoughts are lovely. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Of course, I do not mind the length of the comments. In short, I love it. It shows interest and presence of mind.

I agree with most of your points here. The dress is fine…part of being royalty as you pointed out.

The age difference too. That was supposed to be part of the interesting things included in this post. However, it escaped me. Thanks for bringing it in. I hope nmy other readers will take note of it.

As per Meghan’s TV series, I wasn’t watching. So no missing her there. But I wish her well in her royal assignments.

      Overall, thanks for your comments.

Sure, I thank you for the analysis but I have my fears.
You know what happened to Prince Charles and Princess Diana the parents of Prince Harry. I’m not praying for that. God forbid. Caution is required.
Secondly, Meghan’s father never attended the wedding. News had it that Prince Harry does not have a good relationship with his father-in-law. That’s awkward.
Thirdly, Meghan is divorced. News also say that ex husband heard of their secret dating before the divorce.
Prince Harry invited his four exes to the wedding. Why?
The royal family were not in support of the wedding. They were all trying to cover up. The royal family knows how to break marriages.

I must say these points are from the tabloids and I’m not laying claims to them.

My utmost concern is for their marriage to stand the test of time. May God be with them.

    Thanks for posting.

Thanks Chivalert for the insights. You have added value to the issues raised in the post.

Everything looks good on the surface for the couple. Of course, there are dissenting voices here and there. But some not so true…

I believe Meghan and Harry can make it work. So I pray and wish for them. It Will not be easy but it can work. Thanks for the contribution.

I think this wedding was a huge success and that prince William, prince Harry, Kim and now Meghan are a bright, positive light in British culture especially for the royal family. These brothers have gone through so much since losing their mom, but they didn’t allow their troubles to harm them. They have a firm foundation with the Lord and respect their roles to their society. They seem like wonderful people all around and the UK royal family is in good hands. Plus the young prince and princess are cute as buttons.

Thank you for reading and commenting. Yes the wedding was hugely successful.

With what we have seen now, I think a new chapter has been opened in the annals of British monarchy. Here is wishing Harry bad Markle all the best.
