You looked forward to Christmas all year long. Now the celebration for this year is over.
It will be another 360 something days before you will have another chance to celebrate it again. That is if you are still alive.
Please don’t get me wrong there. I’m not suggesting that you would die before next year’s Christmas. But I’m not denying that the possibility exists for all of us.
Come to think of it, not everyone who celebrated Christmas last year’s Christmas was around to join in this year’s celebration. And as sure as the as the rising sun tomorrow, not everyone who celebrated this year’s Christmas will be alive to celebrate the coming year’s.
You know I’m not being a prophet of doom here. It is the sad reality of the life we found ourselves in: after all said and done, death is inevitable.
The Bible says, “There’s time for everything under the Sun.”
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance… Ecclesiastes 3:1-11.
Let’s take further exploration of the first part of the above quote:
A time to be born, a time to die
Jesus had the time He was born to this earth. He had the time He had to die as well. Gratefully He had the time to resurrect as well.

If you are reading this now, I know you had the time you were born; you had a beginning. Or don’t you have a birthday?
And if you had a beginning on this earth, you are also going to have an ending. It is called death – the way of all mankind.
Unlike when you were born when everyone jubilated, when you die, people will cry. I mean if you are not Adolf Hitler or anyone else in his mould, I don’t see why anyone should be glad when you die.
But whether anyone is sad or happy when you die, it would not really matter to you. What would matter would be how you have used your short life on earth to prepare for the eternity that death would be the doorway to.
If you have prepared well for eternity, death will be a gain to you. But if you have not, death will be a great loss to you. Regrettably, it will be too late by then to make amends.
But how can you prepare well for eternity?
To be honest, the answer is simpler than you think. It requires simple faith in Jesus Christ, the birth of whom we just celebrated and will continue to celebrate in the years ahead.
Think back a little to the Christmas story: a virgin gave birth to Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the whole world. (See Matthew 1:20-21).
You see, that’s why we celebrate Christmas every year: a Saviour was born to save us from our sins. In this Saviour lies the hope of all humanity. But it is sad that many are not seeing it that way.

Now that Christmas is over, the question I would like to ask you is this: do you have a personal relationship by faith with the Celebrant? By that I mean, have you accepted Jesus to be your Lord and Saviour?
If your answer is yes, I will advise you to nurture that relationship so closely that nothing will come between you and Him. You have His assurance that nothing can separate you from His love till you will get to meet Him face to face on the other side of this life.
On the other hand, if you have not put your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour, you have between now and the next Christmas to do so. Actually, no one can guarantee that you will be alive till the next Christmas. So that means NOW is the best chance you have to invite Jesus into your life.
Please wait no further, “For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation” 2 Corrinthians 6:2.
What do you say?
Hi Victor,
As you know there are broadly 3 different types of Christians: various types of Liberal Christian, various types of Neo-orthodox Christians and various types of Evangelical Christians.
You mention that Jesus was born of a virgin. Is this meant to be historical or is it saga or legend?

Jesus being born by a virgin is no legend. It is a historical fact, whether you believe it or not.

So when you say that the ‘virgin birth’ is historical fact, do you mean that it is a literal time-space event where actual virgin gets pregnant without sexual intercourse or is it historical saga? That is, the birth of Jesus is historical ( a time-space) event but the story has legendary elements.

Yes, the virgin birth of Jesus was an event that took place in time. It didn’t require sexual intercourse to get Mary pregnant because she conceived by the Holy Spirits. That’s what makes Jesus more than a man, and made Him the God-incarnate.

How would a ‘virgin birth’ make Jesus God incarnate? Wouldn’t he still be just a human being? Prove that a ‘virgin birth’ would make Jesus God incarnate.

The virgin Mary did not get pregnant by herself. The Bible says she conceived by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit and God are one.
So God put His seed in Mary and Jesus was born, not just as a man but also as God in human flesh – hence we call Him the God incarnate.

If God put his seed in Mary and Mary put her own seed, why wouldn’t Jesus be half human and half God? Where does the bible say that God put his seed in Mary?

Jesus is 💯% God and 💯% man.
For your second question read Matthew 1:20-23:
“20 While he was thinking about this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, descendant of David, do not be afraid to take Mary to be your wife. For it is by the Holy Spirit that she has conceived.
21 She will have a son, and you will name him Jesus—because he will save his people from their sins.”
22 Now all this happened in order to make come true what the Lord had said through the prophet,
23 “A virgin will become pregnant and have a son, and he will be called Immanuel” (which means, “God is with us”).”

‘For it is by the Holy Spirit that she has conceived”.
All this says is that no male person caused her to be pregnant. It doesn’t say that God put his seed into her. You made that up. You read it into the passage.

Mary became pregnant by the Holy Spirit. I’m not surprised that you chose to ignore such a clear sentence. It’s your way: always denying Biblical truths.

So do you believe that an invisible person (God) has sperm? Where does the bible say that? God doesn’t have a body, so how could he have had sex with Mary? Invisible beings (if they exist) don’t have “seed”, do they?

You are so so ignorant in spiritual matters I don’t even know where to start from. God bless your heart.

Isn’t it simpler to conclude that the story of the virgin birth is a legend, than that the Holy Spirit put his seed into Mary? After all, are you saying that the Holy Ghost committed adultery with Mary, if he put his “seed” into her?
LikeLike
No, the Holy spirit did not commit adultery. The power of God through the Holy Spirit got Mary pregnant.
Think about it this way: the God who put some brain in your skull is able to supernaturally fertilise Mary’s egg to produce Jesus. Don’t worry, I know your problem: you don’t believe in God neither do you know His power. Sorry, you can’t possibly understand spiritual things.

Well, I agree with you that, if God exists, then God is omnipotent and can do anything provided it is not contradictory. So it is possible that God could get Mary pregnant without male intervention. That is, If God exists then a virgin birth is possible. But how probable is it? To believe in the miracle of a virgin birth presupposes that the passage that refers to it in the bible is God breathed. That is, it presupposes that it is inspired of God. But, how likely is the bible to be inspired of God when some of it seems to have been written by bloodthirsty and violent savages who created God in their own likeness?
The Holy Spirit did not commit adultery with Mary because this would violate the 7th commandment. Hence God did not put “his seed” into Mary but, if God exists and the story is not myth, then Mary became pregnant through the intervention of God (miraculously) without literally putting any “seed” into her.

“Essentially, I realized that to stay an atheist, I would have to believe that nothing produces everything; non-life produces life; randomness produces fine-tuning; chaos produces information; unconsciousness produces consciousness; and non-reason produces reason. Those leaps of faith were simply too big for me to take, especially in light of the affirmative case for God’s existence … In other words, in my assessment the Christian worldview accounted for the totality of the evidence much better than the atheistic worldview.” Lee Strobel.
I came across the above quote attributed to a former atheist, and I thought I should share it with you. I sincerely hope that one day you will realise, like Lee Strobel, that atheism does not make sense and come to believe in God.

Strobel’s view doesn’t necessitate the Christian creator. It could also be a case for the Muslim creator though it doesn’t necessitate that either. But we don’t have any evidence for a creator.
If God exists and created the universe, it doesn’t follow that he has revealed himself in any persons or any holy books. Strobel merely assumes that he/she/it is revealed in Jesus and a holy book (the bible).

Strobel has made up his mind about God, leaving an example for you to follow. It’s entirely up to you how you handle it.

Are you asking me to choose irrationality over rational thinking? Are you asking me to take a leap of faith and believe in a book written by barbaric savages who created god in their own likeness? Are you asking me to believe in the myths and legends that are found in parts of the bible?
I am looking at the Lee Strobel Center website at Colorado Christian University to see if there is anything to this guy or whether he is a lunatic follower of that lunatic, Paul or not. Does in gabble in tongues (jibber jabber)? Does he believe in alleged miracles that are supposed to have occurred and are recorded in the bible or are they legends? Does he believe in alleged miracles today or not? Is he utterly deceived by the Charismatic and Pentecostal frauds that are in the Word of faith movement, the false prosperity gospel or the so-called health and wealth idiocy that Charismatic and Pentecostal scammers are ripping off the gullible of their hard earned money?

Believing in God is not irrational. In fact not believing is the irrational thing.
I’m not asking you to believe in any myth or legend, because the Bible is not a myth. Neither am I asking you to choose irrationality over rationality, because actually atheism is the irrational thing.
All I am saying is that you should make your search for God a genuine one. Those who seek God genuinely will always find Him. Anyone who hasn’t found Him yet has not seeked wholeheartedly.
Strobel was an atheist like you. But when he began to search for God genuinely, he found Him, and so can you.

You believe that there are more reasons to believe than not believe in God, so you do admit that there are reasons to not believe. Can you state the reasons that you believe, and let’s examine their validity?

I’m not an atheist, but on rational grounds I am an agnostic who believes that the probability for God’s existence is low (So some would call me an atheist). However, I choose to believe that a God of infinite compassion, healing-mercy and loving-kindness exists. This God is not the God of that barbaric book called the bible but One so tender, kind and loving that he would not torture anyone by burning them in any Lake of Fire forever. A God who burns and tortures people is a moral monster and those who follow this moral monster are following the wrong God.

There are several websites on the internet that claim that Strobel is a liar and present arguments and evidence to support their view. However, I am not yet sure what to make of all this, but according to your holy book those who practice lies end up in the ‘lake of fire’ and have not found the so-called bible god. Google “Is Lee Strobel a Liar?” and see what comes up.
