When You Are Interviewed By A Parenting Blog

I recently got featured as a blog’s Parent of the Month. That happens to be the first real interview I would ever grant to any website.

I have the permission of the blog author to share the interview with you here. Enjoy it.

Aspiring Writer, Husband, Father… Parent of the Month

Welcome to our Parentinggist parent of the month. Let’s meet our guest.

My name is Victor Uyanwanne, husband to Jennifer, father of two energetic boys and an aspiring writer.

Great, can you throw more light on your writing.

For the past three years, I have been publishing posts bothering on life and living, family issues, blogging tips, poetry and many other things that tickle my fancy. My purpose is to inspire people and equip them with the right knowledge that will help them live happier.

Being a follower of Jesus Christ, the thoughts on my blogs are presented from a Christian worldview. If you want to read my writings first hand, they can be accessed via Victors’ Corner

Awesome blog, you’ve got, how do you combine your regular job, writing and family?

Thanks for the compliment. I will say, I am combining effectively well. I take my job seriously and I put in my best all the time.

Reading and writing are my top hobbies so I have fun doing both, especially at night after work and on weekends. Except because of Lagos traffic bottlenecks, anyone here should have plenty of time after work (from the close of work at 5pm daily to whenever he or she goes to bed) to do some personal things. That’s how I find time to hone my writing skills.

As for the family, I will give all the credit to my beautiful wife for holding forth strongly at the home front. She is really a gift from heaven to me; a helpmeet indeed.

Having said that, I will add that as much as possible I try to spend much time with my family whenever I’m not at work. And I usually cut out unnecessary outings. I don’t know about you, for me, family time is fun time and best time. I have two very inquisitive boys. Answering their numerous questions and bonding with them through mutual interactions have been one of my greatest pleasures as a dad.

We would like you to share some of the numerous questions from your boys, I’m sure we would benefit from them too or laugh it out.

I have had my boys asking me scores of questions. And many of those questions I answered correctly without much ado. Yet there were ones I had to think twice before answering.

For instance, one of them once asked me, “Daddy, why do we have ten fingers?” How does one answer that? Please help me out (smiles).

When they asked, “Daddy, what is the baby of a horse called?” I am ashamed to say that I had to quickly check “Google” on my smartphone before I could tell them it’s called “a foal.”

Of all the questions my boys have ever asked me, the one that impressed me most was when the older boy (then 4years plus) asked me how he could be able to make it to Heaven at the end of this life. I must say it was my privilege to lead him to Christ that Christmas morning.

Oh this is wonderful, I must say, so what advice do you have for parents who are reading this; how can we lead our kids to make Heaven?

Parents should share the simple truths of the gospel with their children and allow them to make up their mind about receiving Jesus Christ into their lives. It is not something that can be forced.

In addition, parents should always pray for their children, that they receive the Lord and follow His way. In my boy’s case, I had prayed for him even before he turned 2 years old that he would get to be born again before the age of eight. Fortunately for me, it happened much earlier than expected.

One other thing I will add is that parents should by their conducts show good examples to their children. Children are good observers and they learn alot from their parents. If we want our children to be candidates of heaven, we should not live our lives as candidates of hell.

Thank you so much for honouring our invitation.

You are welcome. The pleasure is mine.

P.S: The interview was originally published on ParentingGist blog.

As you shared Victor;”We should just continue to press towards the mark of Perfection. That’s where God has pointed us to”

Yes this is very True Victor and God tells us how to do this as I shared with the Scriptures in His Plan of Salvation and we see it again confirmed below and when we come close to God by choosing to walk as Jesus did in Righteousness, the Devil flees and has no hold on us, Good and Evil cannot co- exist.

1John 3: 1-11( 6-7) Whosoever abideth in Him Sinneth not, whosoever Sinneth hath not seen Him neither known Him. Little Children let No Man deceive you, he that doeth Righteousness is Righteous even as He is Righteous.(KJV)

1John 2:28-29 And now little Children abide in Him that when He shall appear we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming. If ye know that He is Righteous ye know that every one that doeth Righteousness is Born of Him.(KJV )

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no Condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus who Walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit. (KJV)

Romans 8: 4 That the Righteousness of the Law might be fulfilled in us who Walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.(KJV)

1Peter2:24 Who His own self bare our Sins in His own body on the tree that we being dead to Sins should Live unto Righteousness by whose stripes ye were healed. (KJV)

1John 4:16-19 And we have known and believed the Love that God hath to us. God is Love and he that dwelleth in Love dwelleth in God and God in him. Herein is our Love made Perfect that we may have boldness in the day of Judgment because as He is so are we in this World. There is no fear in Love but Perfect Love casteth out fear because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made Perfect in Love. We Love Him because He first Loved us. (KJV)

    Blessings – Anne.

Sorry Victor, it should have read above (1John 5:7 KJV) which is strange as I’m sure I did write it but it is not the first time I have had things changed when I Posted Comments, especially Scripture Verses. This verse is missing in some newer Translations of the Bible including those written by the Bible Society of America and Australia and also in Cult Bibles and there are other Truths that have been deleted too and wrong wording added. Hopefully I will be able to share these differences in a Post soon.

But I’m still waiting Victor for confirmation about my Open Heart Surgery, they cancelled it just recently as I was about to leave to go to the Hospital, even though I was told months ago that I could die at any moment but I know we don’t die until it is our Allotted time on earth is over, as recorded in God’s Book of Life and in The Lamb’s Book too, although God can extend our lives as I’m sure He has done with me and others, perhaps even more than we know but it would still be recorded.

God’s Loving Blessings Now and Always – Anne.(Grannie Annie)

All right grannie mum. Thanks for the feedback.

As per your heart surgery, my prayer for you is that God’s divine healing will manifest in your heart so that the surgery would be unnecessary. Remain greatly blessed.

Dear Victor, I do understand that you have not arrived yet and nor have I but God tells us to be Perfect as He is (see below) and He is Love and Love cannot do evil. If it were impossible for us to be Perfect like He is, He would not of asked us to be but Paul also said that he was not fully Perfected before he was, so just like him we will get there before we die and like Paul and others in the Church receive the Crown of Righteousness.

Many Christians today sadly keep saying and believing they will never be Perfect and God tells us what we think in our Heart we will do and be, I’m now Aiming to be All He wants me to be by doing as Jesus said we are to do……. Ask Seek and Knock with His assurance that we will receive all of God’s Good and Perfect Will for us.

Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore Perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is Perfect.

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto Perfection not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of Faith toward God,

2 Corinthians 7: 1 Having therefore these promises dearly Beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, Perfecting Holiness in the fear of God.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the Man of God may be Perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

2Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be Perfect, be of good Comfort, be of One Mind, live in Peace and The God of Love and Peace shall be with you.

1John 4:17-19 Herein is our Love made Perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment because as He is so are we in this World. There is no fear in Love but Perfect Love casteth out fear because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made Perfect in Love. We Love Him because He first Loved us.

Thank you grannie mum for the selected scriptures. I read them and in context, I will say we should just continue to press towards the mark of perfection. That’s where God has pointed us to.

But I also know that our perfection is not by ourselves but in Christ, for we are complete ONLY in HIM. Having taken on the righteousness of Christ, that’s only when I can feel perfect without any feeling of guilt or condemnation.

I hope I made a little sense grannie mum. Thanks for your time.

Thank you Victor for sharing about your Boys Faith in The Lord. Being a Parent is one of the most important responsibilities God has given Mankind, He tells Parents to train up a Child to know Him and than they will not fall away or reject Jesus the unforgivable Sin and that is because God knows those who are His or will be and He Protects our Souls and even if we loose our way for a time, Jesus goes after His lost Sheep and I was one of them having been deceived as a young Teenager that I came from an Ape and Jesus my Best Friend was just made up..

My 7 Children are in Heaven Victor and they have only known Joy, I give Thanks and Praise to The Lord that we will be United again, a Hope I didn’t have as an Atheist.

We can never be Perfect in a Worldly way Victor the criteria keeps changing and it’s all about being Wealthy, Powerful and Popular but God’s Perfection is very different it’s all about Sacrificial Love because He is Love and if we have His seed and are Perfected in His Love, than we are Love too. (1John 3:9)

I didn’t know my earthly father Victor as your boys know you, how very Blessed they are to have you both. I was four when I came to live with Dad and eight when he died but he was seldom home, he was a brilliant Man but very Worldly. My Birth Mother was his Secretary, she left me at his Factory door when I was 4, with a note; you can have her I don’t want her, he said he would Marry her if I was a Boy but I wasn’t. Thankfully Dad became a Christian just before he died and his last words on Earth were to me, “he said Lovingly to me; “Be a Sunbeam for Jesus and keep Shining” it was many years later as a Christian Adult before I fully understood what he meant.

But Jesus did become my Best Friend not long after my Dad died when I was being Fostered but I was later deceived by my new Mother who had Adopted me and my Teacher, thy both told me that I had evolved from an Ape and Mum also told me that Jesus was not real and the Bible was just made up Stories.

So than Victor as an Atheist in my thinking for almost 30 years without Christian Guidance, I messed up Big time! yes it has been a very Rocky road but Jesus never forgot me and He rescued me and wonderfully my Abba Father Adopted me as His very own beloved Child.

Although I did fall into Sin even as a Believer before I had True Heart Repentance, Now with All my All I want to keep Shining so that The Godhead; The Father, Jesus The Living Word and The Holy Ghost (1John 9:7KJV) may be Glorified Eternally in my Heart and in the Hearts all of those that our Abba Father has chosen by His Foreknowledge to be Perfected into the Image of Jesus and than yes The Old Carnal Nature will have gone and God’s New Love Nature will have come.

Thank you for letting me share Victor, it was in my Heart to do so and I always feel very Welcome when I visit you and as I said before, I would be Proud to call you my Son, perhaps I should Adopt you! than I would have your Wife and Grand-children to call my own too.

Blessings – Annie Mum or ( Grannie Annie)

I would not mind to have you as a mum too Anne, especially since my birth mum has passed away three years ago. She was a woman of faith and focus and I’m thankful that she pointed me to the way of the Lord.

I am really sorry to learn about how your birth mum treated you. I guess she didn’t know the Lord, she would have known better.

As for your dad, it’s good to know he died a believer. That’s the main thing that matter. His advise to you to shine for Jesus is to all of us too, which is in line with what we are required to do.

Another thing I’m grateful for is that God delivered you from the reception called atheism. You have never hidden the fact that you were a former atheist, always testifying that Jesus loves you and delivered you. Thanks for sharing your personal stories.

Wonderful Victor I have now Adopted you, Wow No Labour pains and your Potty trained too and No Teething problems either, No doubt you have all your teeth by now, well at least I Hope so and your not not like your new Mum who keeps loosing her 3rd ones Lol

Seriously Victor, your Birth Mum is to be Highly Commended for you now walking in Faith, the Good Foundation she shared with you was Strong and Unbreakable and because you took it to Heart and built your life on The Rock, Jesus Christ and not on the Sand of Worldly Chattels, it will never be washed away and as I said before Victor, I would be Proud to call you my Son as I’m very sure your Birth Mum was too!

Deuteronomy 32:3-5 Because I will Publish The Name of The LORD, ascribe ye greatness unto our God. He is The Rock, His work is Perfect for all His ways are judgment a God of Truth and without iniquity, Just and Right is He.

Romans 9:33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and Rock of offence and whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.

1 Corinthians 10:3-5 And did all eat the same Spiritual Meat and did all drink the same Spiritual Drink, for they drank of that Spiritual Rock that followed them and that Rock was Christ.

Christian Love and Blessings – your New Annie Mum.

You are highly appreciated Anne. With such a strong focus on the Lord, I am convinced any Christian child would be proud to have you as a mum. Your love and heart for God is unmistakable.

Thank you for your kind words towards my late mum. Yes as you noted Anne, she should be commended for introducing us to Christianity.

Unfortunately, i took this for granted throughout her lifetime. It was not until her passing that I was able to put it into words in poem that read in part,

“You found the Gospel light at a tender age.
And you followed it till you breathed your last.
You did not only find the way of Christ
You pointed it out for us your children to follow.

You told us you knew no other way, but Christ
You told us to follow Jesus Christ
Till our days on earth are gone.
Now that you are no more here
God is helping us to follow through.”
